This is the prayer suggested by Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (r.a.) to protect ourself against plague.

This is the prayer suggested by Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (r.a.) to ask ALLAH (SWT) for protection against plague.

Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (r.a.) named this prayer as “as-Sakina”.
According to his suggestion these are the things that need to be considered:

1- To get rid of the disease (plague) before praying one should make charity on behave of Rasulullah (saw)’s descendants.

2- For those who are rich could make an animal sacrifice to offer to Allah for protection againts the disease (plague).

3- It should be enough to read this pray once a day. But it is best (recomended) to do after fajr prayer or after the sunrise or after isha prayer. Read everyday until we get rid of the disease (plague).

The prayer is read as follows :

1- Make the niyyah (intention) before prayer.

2- Make istighfar (7 times)

3- Read salawat for Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) (7 times)  :

Read it 6 times this way :

And the seventh time read it this way :

4- Say Takbeer (10 times)

5- Read Basmalah and the 122th verse of Surah Al-An’am (19 times)

6- At the end of the prayer, the following passage is read 3 times :

Al-Baqarah Verse 261: The parable of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah

The Cow (Al-Baqarah) Verse 261:
The parable of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is that of a grain of corn: it groweth seven ears, and each ear Hath a hundred grains. Allah giveth manifold increase to whom He pleaseth: And Allah careth for all and He knoweth all things.
